Floor Graphics: Application Top Tips from YPS
The use of floor signage and graphics has seen a massive increase in 2020. The need to communicate directions, social distancing and safety information effectively has created a high demand for good quality floor graphics.
Here are Your Print Specialists top tips for ensuring your printed floor signage gets your customers message across.
1. Ensure the correct media is being used for the job. Is the graphic going to be used internally or externally, on a smooth or rough surface? What will the foot traffic be like?
2. It's important that the area where the graphic will be installed is clean of any dirt or dust, dry and smooth to ensure that the application is successful.
3. Vinyl or laminate for floor graphics must have an anti-slip rating also known as the R rating. Standard vinyls and laminates do not have this rating and therefore should not be used. It is also important that the R rating is appropriate for the type of floor.
4. Having the right material for the job is paramount but it is also important that the design is clear and the message can be easily communicated.
5. It’s important to keep floor graphics clean especially if they display safety or directional information. Care should be taken to minimise the adhesive’s exposure to water and cleaning products. The print itself should also be able to withstand cleaning products and also UV rays to prevent fading.
