Epson’s first 24-inch dye-sublimation printer, the SureColor SC-F500, was launched in early 2020. With the Covid pandemic resulting in a lot of workers being furloughed and working from home, the need for a second income and new source of revenue became apparent. People turned their attention to the creative industries and in particular dye sublimation. Dye-sublimation printing can be used to create a wide variety of products including textiles, promotional items, interior decor and giftware.
As a result of this increased interest, dye sublimation became a home business opportunity and the SC-F500 was at the forefront of the movement. This resulted in the machine selling out periodically and dye sublimation blanks becoming hard to get a hold of.
“Epson’s dye-sublimation printers have been a refreshing addition to the market and have drawn in customers to the print industry who would not have considered print as a source of income previously” Georgia Brown, Managing Director YPS
The SureColor SC-F500 is compact enough to be used from your dining room table, while still ensuring the quality you would expect from an Epson product. The SC-F500 is the perfect tool needed to create an additional income.
A year on from the initial launch of the Epson SureColor SC-F500 and the printers are back in stock and available now to purchase. The success of the SC-F500’s resulted in the launch of its smaller sibling, the Epson SureColor SC-F100. This machine is Epson’s first A4 dye-sublimation solution, which like the SC-F500 does not require Epson’s RIP software, Edge Print.
The Epson SureColor SC-F100 is now experiencing its own spotlight as the smaller, more compact version of the SC-F500. While the SureColor SC-F100 and F500 are easily comparable, the suitability of each machine depends on the user and what they require.
Overall throughout the last year, the pandemic resulted in a boom for the dye sublimation industry which directly leads to the Epson SureColor SC-F500 rocketing into the homes of those looking for a second income. This then snowballed into the release of Epson’s smallest dye-sublimation printer, the SureColor SC-F100.
