YPS are pleased to announce their continued partnership with YPI Ambassador Beth Travers of BOBO1325 with the creation of a design based on the theme of print heritage.
YPS have been working with Beth Travers at BOBO1325 for a number of years now, therefore commissioning Beth to design a custom piece for YPS was a natural progression.
Beth is one of our Your Print Institute ambassadors, supporting budding creatives entering print and closing the skill gap in the industry with the revolution of digital print.
BOBO1325 won the FESPA 2020 Gold Award in the Printeriors category for her interior print design work with Leila Lily’s, Newcastle. Beth's designs are intricate works of art that require research and time.
“Peeling back the layers of the design we discover background ghosted layers over one of the brand's blue tones to discover elements of printing presses along with the eagle and dragon from the Columbian press featuring letterpressed letters Y P and S.” - Beth Travers, BOBO1325
Beth pays great attention to detail and researched the print industry based on the brief given by YPS, focusing on the theme of print heritage.
Print Heritage has been throughout YPS’ branding for years. Long-standing customers will notice the printing press as an opaque background throughout our website, business cards and other marketing materials.
“The cotton and silkworms represent fabrics and fibres, it’s a libertyesque pattern but in my own way. The biophilia elements such as the sunflowers and citrus represent dyes of past, but also present as we steer towards a more eco-conscious and sustainable world which sees citrus fruits, sunflowers extracted for dyes.” - Beth Travers, BOBO1325
Beth’s research into the print industry shows her dedication to her art, Travers researched print idols such as William Morris and took inspiration from his piece ‘Strawberry Thief’.
“I've tried to make it look like a liberty pattern but in my own way. The sunflowers and citrus represent dyes as is in the past and actually still now for the eco-conscious. Citrus fruits, and sunflowers were and are used and extracted for dyes. The willow leaves are for the colour mauve as that was discovered by the man who was studying aspirin and the litmus test.” -Beth Travers, BOBO1325
Special thanks to BOBO1325 for creating this design especially for YPS to showcase at Sign & Digital Uk 2022. The dye sublimated features now take pride of place in our Newcastle based creative centre
